Sound Engineer

Afriski Mountain Resort invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the positions of a Sound Engineer at its Site at Mahlasela Pass.

As a Sound Engineer at Afriski Mountain Resort, you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality audio production during winter events, concerts, and performances. You will work closely with event organizers, performers, and technical staff to create immersive sound experiences that enhance the overall atmosphere of the resort. This position requires a strong understanding of audio equipment, technical expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional sound quality in a dynamic environment.

Job Responsibilities

You will:

  • Set up, operate, and maintain audio equipment including mixing consoles, microphones, amplifiers, and speakers.
  • Collaborate with event organizers and performers to understand their audio requirements and preferences.
  • Conduct sound checks and rehearsals to ensure optimal audio levels and clarity.
  • Monitor sound levels during events to prevent distortion and ensure a balanced sound mix.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide timely solutions to ensure uninterrupted audio production.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sound Engineer or similar role, preferably in a live event or entertainment setting.
  • Proficiency in operating audio equipment including mixing consoles, microphones, amplifiers, and speakers.
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve audio-related issues quickly and effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to audio production and live events.
  • Certification or formal training in sound engineering or a related field is preferred.
