Lift Operators

Afriski Mountain Resort invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the positions of Snow and Lift Operators at its Site at Mahlasela Pass.

Job Responsibilities

You will:
  • Follow routines and checks on Snowmaking / Slope teams during and after completion of training.
  • Participate in Ski doo Training If required.
  • Will participate in First aid training if required
  • Use Equipment to correct Safety Standards and Operate machines with care.
  • have an understanding of dangers involved with Snowmaking and equipment
  • Use PPE to correct safety Standards.
  • Fill in Snowmaking Logs when On shift.
  • Follow and Complete routines in Control tower and Slopes.
  • Swing or grave yard member on Snowmaking Shifts
  • Attend Snowmakers meeting at shift start times or at change overs
  • Provide Feedback to Martin Schultz on Equipment Faults and issues
  • Provide Feedback when Head Snowmaker requires Information regarding Equipment
  • If required,  Be stationed at Top Slope Pump House then will check Pump every 15 minutes and provide radio feedback every 15 minutes.
  • Do Hourly Gun run checks.
  • Participate in the monitoring of Pumphouse Duties including Top Slope Pump station
  • Follow radio code training and usage along with all Snowmaking staff.

Requirements:

  • Basic verbal and written Communication skills in English and at least 1 African language.  Good hearing.  Must be prepared to undergo a hearing test on request.  Good listening skills to understand and carry out instructions correctly and accurately.
  • Ability to carry out work per standards and routines. Ability to Perform in cold weather
  • Vibrant and friendly personality.
  • Ability to multi-task and to meet deadlines.  Willing and able to work overtime when required.
  • Smart, clean and neat personal presentation.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Honest, reliable, conscientious, responsible and disciplined and to keep team moral high at all times.
