Retail Shop Assistant

Afriski Mountain Resort invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the positions of a Retail Shop Assistant at its Site at Mahlasela Pass. As a Store Assistant you will be responsible for assisting customers who enter the store or telephonic enquiries within set guidelines and under the general supervision of superiors. 

Job Responsibilities

You will:

  • Greet and welcome customers entering the store immediately in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Offer refreshment to customers.
  • Use an opening line such as ‘Are you going Skiing?’ to try and determine the customer’s needs.
  • Use the ‘Essential Advice List’ to help the customer choose the correct items.
  • Ensure that discounts are adhered to in accordance with MD’s instructions.
  • Notify customers of sales and special offers.
  • Once authorized by Store Manager or MD, placing non-available stock orders and follow up with suppliers until orders are finalized.
  • Assisting customers with refunds and exchanges according to the refunds and exchange policy.

Requirements:

  • Understand and apply above average customer communication skills.
  • Have a patient, friendly and open personality.
  • Maintain professionalism at all times.
  • Be physically healthy and mobile and able to lift, carry and pack merchandise.
  • Have experience or able to learn to operate a till and handle cash and credit card transactions accurately.
  • Must be target and profit driven.
  • Must be able to learn and remember merchandise and correct application/use of goods.
  • Must have a clean criminal record.
  • Must be honest, reliable and conscientious.
