Pastry Chef: Baker

Afriski Mountain Resort invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the positions of a Pastry Chef: Baker at its Site at Mahlasela Pass. As the head baker you need to ensure that all duties are carried out between yourself and your assistant. To ensure that all food is to a high standard and consistency is key.

Job Responsibilities

You will:

  • Prepare pastries having good tase as well as quality.
  • Prepare different kinds of pastries using various ingredients.
  • Make sure that the pastries do not just taste good but are also presentable.
  • Needs to look for ways sure that the pastries do not just taste good but are also presentable.
  • Required to see to it that the ingredients and equipment required to prepare different kinds of pastries are ordered at the right time.

Requirements:

  • Physically fit and mobile with no back, leg or arm problems, must be 18 years or older. Able to reach, bend and frequently lift objects.
  • Must be able to speak English fluently, read and understand to a high standard. Basic math skills are essential.
  • Able to listen, understand and carry out work instructions correctly and on time.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Able and willing to live at the resort if and when necessary.
  • Able and willing to work overtime.
  • Must be familiar with Health and Safety rules preferably in a similar environment.
  • Honest, sober habits, conscientious, reliable.
  • Know and understand importance of food production.
  • Must have the ability to manage other staff.
  • This employee must be proactive in the work environment.
