On-Site Accountant (CA)

Afriski Mountain Resort is seeking a highly competent, hands-on Accountant (preferably a Chartered Accountant) to take full ownership of on-site financial operations. This is not a back-office reporting role. The successful candidate will be directly responsible for day-to-day accounting execution, financial control, and operational finance management across all departments of the resort. The role combines accounting, finance control, and transactional oversight, including responsibilities currently performed by the Finance Clerk.

Location: Afriski Mountain Resort, Lesotho. 

Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site.       

Eligibility: Basotho nationals only

Key Responsibilities

1. Day-to-Day Accounting

  • Full responsibility for daily financial processing and controls

  • Management of accounts payable and receivable

  • Cashbook management and bank reconciliations (Lesotho & South Africa accounts)

  • Processing and review of all financial transactions

2. Financial Control & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to internal controls and financial procedures

  • Monitor and enforce budget discipline across departments

  • Maintain accurate and audit-ready financial records

  • Ensure compliance with Lesotho tax regulations and statutory requirements

3. Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare monthly management accounts

  • Provide weekly cash flow reporting and forecasts

  • Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis

  • Support management with financial insights for decision-making

4. Operational Finance Oversight

  • Oversee stock control, procurement processes, and cost management

  • Supervise and execute payroll inputs and reconciliations

  • Monitor revenue streams (accommodation, F&B, activities, etc.)

  • Identify and eliminate financial leakages and inefficiencies

5. Systems & Process Improvement

  • Work across systems such as **Xero, eZee Absolute, and other operational platforms

  • Improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and system integration

  • Implement best-practice controls aligned with hospitality operations

Requirements:

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent professional accounting qualification
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ relevant accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of financial controls and operational accounting
  • High level of proficiency in accounting systems and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in hospitality, tourism, or resort environments
  • Exposure to multi-revenue stream businesses
  • Experience working with integrated accounting and booking/POS systems
  • Familiarity with cross-border financial transactions (Lesotho / South Africa)
