Executive Head Chef

Afriski Mountain Resort invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of a Executive Head Chef at its Site at Mahlasela Pass.

We are looking for a strategic and innovative Executive Head Chef to oversee all culinary operations. Afriski Mountain Resort, Lesotho’s premier mountain and ski destination, is seeking an experienced, creative, and dynamic Head Chef to lead our culinary operations in a high-energy hospitality environment. This role requires strong leadership, innovation, and the ability to deliver exceptional dining experiences to both local and international guests.

Job Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead and manage all kitchen operations across resort outlets.
  • Develop seasonal and à la carte menus aligned with resort standards.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
  • Control food costs, wastage, and kitchen budgets.
  • Manage procurement and supplier relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP standards).
  • Train, supervise, and mentor kitchen staff.
  • Maintain a positive, high-performance kitchen culture.
  • Work closely with management on special events and peak season planning

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Certificate in Culinary Arts or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior kitchen leadership role.
  • Experience in high-volume hospitality or resort environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proven experience in menu development and cost control.
  • Knowledge of international cuisine (experience with diverse guest profiles is an advantage).
  • Must be familiar with Health and Safety rules preferably in a similar environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and peak seasons.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
